SIM has almost unlimited opportunities from three months to a lifetime |
Short-term
If you are exploring the possibility of mission service, you might want to experience a cross-cultural ministry first hand by doing a short-term assignment.Short-term assignments include ministry in areas such as teaching at an international school, healthcare, children’s ministries, sports evangelism, teaching English, IT services and home schooling to name just a few. If you are a medical student with a serious interest in medical mission, we can provide you with an opportunity for a supervised elective in Africa or Asia to be part of your training. We also have a number of overseas internships available in various ministries.
Long-term
However, many of our ministries require a longer-term commitment. It takes time to learn the language and culture and to build the sorts of relationships which enable you to share the gospel holistically. Church planting, discipleship and leadership development take time and perseverance. Many other ministries will benefit from long-term commitment. |
SIM can help you connect your skills and experiences to a short-term assignment. |

Short-term positions exist for people of all ages and virtually any skill can be used. Positions vary from three months to two years. We do have some elective positions available, including medical electives. There are also some internships available in various areas of ministry.
Short-term teams ...
Short-term teams can have a significant ministry in many areas of world mission. A church or Bible College team can not only encourage a missionary and a national church, but by bringing together the sum total of their unique gifts and experiences, can accomplish a great deal in a short time.
