This project provides a holistic ministry in Dhaka city for street girls at risk of becoming sex workers. This ministry includes a drop-in-centre, training in life skills and character development, and counselling for those with traumatic life experiences. The project provides a safe haven for these young people, including sanitary washing facilities, and an alternative to the perceived need for early marriage.

Pastoral Care and Family Life Education
Trainer couples from the 18 EE/SIM (Eglises Evangélique — SIM’s partner church) church regions were trained in pastoral care of those infected or affected by HIV/AIDS. They have gone on to train the remaining 150 pastor couples who have not received the training in these regions, as well as approximately 300 students in EE/SIM Bible Schools.

This project ministers to people living with HIV/AIDS by training church volunteers to minister to sick people and those looking after them. The sick are given assistance with ambulance fees, prescribed medicines, food and hospital fees. Voluntary Counselling and Testing is promoted throughout
the community, and those that test HIV positive are encouraged to form support groups to assist in living positively with HIV.

Chile Earthquake Aid - Latest Update Mar 2010
This project meets the immediate needs of those affected by the earthquake that hit Chile on the 27th
February 2010. Initially blankets, tents, food, medicine and community kitchens are being provided, with
counselling and pastoral care for adults and children to follow. There is also provision of some temporary and
permanent housing as determined by partners in the relief efforts.

This project provides urgent assistance to the estimated 150,000 people who lost their homes in the
Ouagadougou floods of September 2009. Immediate aid will meet the basic needs of food, blankets, sleeping
mats, medicine, mosquito nets, soap, and similar items, for those who have taken refuge in government
centres. Ongoing assistance will help in the resettlement of those most vulnerable and least able to re-
establish themselves.
