You may be at the beginning of your career, or you may have years of experience and sense God changing your direction. Whatever your situation, SIM can help you find a place to use your unique gifts and experience in world mission.
SIM and its partner churches are committed to working in a way that will impact the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of the people we serve. There are endless opportunities within SIM’s diverse ministries
Evangelism and church planting...
SIM needs people with a heart for evangelism. We are
committed to developing relationships, sharing the gospel and planting churches
where there is no church. We need people with a heart for the unreached and
equipped to help others grow in their faith. There are many ministries that
enable you to build those relationships.

Discipleship and leadership development...
God’s Word speaks into every culture. The church needs people who understand the bible and can open it up to those around them. Local churches need leaders whose lives are shaped by scriptural principles.
Theological Education...
SIM is committed to sending people into bible schools and colleges and Theological Education by Extension (TEE) programs run by our partner churches.
Teaching English...
Opportunities abound for mother-tongue English speakers
to teach English and share Christ’s love
Teaching English.pdf
-
Learning English can help provide a brighter future for people in many countries by opening up employment and educational opportunities.
-
English is becoming vital for national progress in many places, such as Asia, and governments are asking for people whose mother tongue is English to come and teach in their schools and universities.
-
Many national missionaries need to learn English to facilitate their work in world mission.
Teaching in International schools...
If you have teaching qualifications and a heart for Jesus, then teaching at one of the
schools related to SIM will be a great experience. At these international schools you will
not only teach children of missionaries and expatriates, you will also teach children of
diplomats, professional people and national children. You have the opportunity to help
them know Jesus and grow in their faith.

Home-schooling missionary children...
By home schooling a missionary’s children you are setting the missionary free to
concentrate on their ministry. You can also have a significant impact in your students’ lives.

Children and youth work...
In many countries where SIM works over 50% of the population is under 18 years of age. SIM is concerned for children in the context of families, churches and communities. We have a wide range of children and youth ministries including homework clubs, sports ministries, outreach to street kids, feeding programs and care for those orphaned by AIDS.
Sports Ministries...
The power of the sports platform is enormous! Sports surmount the boundaries of race,
tribe, class, age and religion that so easily divide us and hinder the Gospel. Sports Friends,
a program of SIM International, is empowering churches and church planters to use the universal
language of sport. It partners with the local church in reaching out to youth through sport.
It is proving a relevant and effective tool for evangelism and discipleship.

Healthcare...
Healthcare professionals work in front line care, primary health care and preventative education. All are committed to training local colleagues. Poverty is often the cause of poor healthcare. You can use your medical training and compassion to show Christ’s love in a very practical way.
HIV and AIDS...
SIM’s HOPE for AIDS initiative is providing home-based care, orphan care, education for
prevention of spread of AIDS and enabling for the local church to minister to those
affected and effected by the AIDS pandemic. You can be involved in this initiative,
bringing hope in the context of AIDS.

Medical Electives...
If you are a medical student with a serious interest in Christian mission work,
then you might want to combine your interest with your medical elective.
SIM can provide you with an opportunity for a supervised elective to be part
of your training.
We can arrange for medical students to take their elective in one of several
SIM or EHA (Emmanuel Hospital Administration) hospitals. During the elective
you will gain medical experience not to be found in Australia and at the same
time discover life in another culture first-hand.

Community development...
SIM’s relief and development work is targeting poverty, exploitation and famine, seeking to bring sustainable solutions. We are committed to meet the needs of those who are suffering and marginalised and believe that the ultimate evidence of development is seeing people reconciled to God.
Translation and Literacy...
SIM is dedicated to helping people understand God’s Word by being able to read it in their mother tongue. You can be a part of this ministry through linguistics, bible translation and literacy programs run by SIM.
Business as ministry...
Business professionals represent a growing number of committed Christians who realise
they can use their expertise to do bi-vocational mission in countries where it is
difficult or impossible to obtain a missionary visa or where this opens the door
to share the gospel with a specific group of people. Some use their business skills
to help strengthen local churches and communities.

Practical skills...
Carpenter? Plumber? Electrician? Ever thought of offering your expertise in mission? Trade skills are vital and can make a real difference to projects and to practical needs on the mission field. You could help to re-roof mission housing, construct dormitories at a school, help maintain mission properties…and demonstrate God’s love in a practical way.
Media...
Opportunities exist in the fields of communication, promotion, graphic design, photography and videography, web design, radio and literature.
Technical services...
Specialised skills in electronics; communications, mechanics, computer science and construction can play a vital role in world evangelism. If you have skills and experience in these areas, SIM can find a place for you.
Administration and finance...
Do you have organisational and administrative abilities, training in the financial field or come from an engineering background? You can use these skills in administrative and management roles with SIM. Short and longer-term positions exist in these areas providing an essential foundation for the mission’s ministries. Ministry Choices...
You can choose from many areas of personal ministry with SIM. There are openings for people with almost any skill imaginable from accountant to evangelist to welder… pilot to librarian to youth counsellor…there's a place for nearly everyone in SIM.
Worldwide Opportunities...
With SIM you can follow God's leading to major unreached areas of Africa, Asia, and South America.
International Teamwork...
You'll be joining people from more than 30 countries, benefiting from their diverse experiences while enjoying unity in Christ.
Administrative Support...
Teams in the field and at your national headquarters are behind you all the way. They make possible your full attention to your unique ministry. Servant leadership…SIM leadership sees itself as servants and co-workers with each and every missionary. All directors raise support like all SIM missionaries. As such they become advocates and helpers.
Financial Stability...
Wise and transparent administration of a team support system offers financial stability. SIM has a policy that no mission project will be started until moneys are in hand. This conservative but effective approach has kept SIM and its members financially stable. Each SIM member benefits from coverage of medical and dental needs. Even if that means an emergency flight home, SIM will care for you and your family. Housing and retirement are also taken into consideration.
Family Friendly...
SIM recognises that the family is ordained by God and all members of a missionary family are important. Families have great liberty to choose educational, housing and work placements that suit their particular needs.
SIM maintains a focus on its primary goal of reaching people for Jesus Christ and planting churches in his name, but that's a broad purpose, and there's no one right way to achieve it. There are as many ministries in SIM as there are missionaries, each reaching out in the way God leads.
