Light in dark places

Wednesday, 13 July 2016 Light in dark places

Thank you for your heartfelt response to SIM Australia's End of Financial Year appeal for Girls off the Streets! We are so grateful to all who have partnered with us in our work to restore hope to survivors of sex trafficking and sexual abuse in South Asia.

Thanks to the generosity of many, the Redlight-Greenlight aftercare home can continue to rescue and rehabilitate girls who have experienced significant trauma over their lifetimes. The following story illustrates how Girls off the Streets is empowering girls to walk a path toward healing and wholeness.

During a recent group therapy session at the Redlight-Greenlight aftercare home, the girls were asked to shuffle through a stack of photo cards. The staff member running the session then asked the girls to choose one image that reflected what they wanted their future to look like.

One girl chose a photo that had a bright light in the centre of the card, with shadows around the edges. She said, “In this photo I see places that are dark, and other places that are shining. I want God to spread light in all the dark places of my heart, so that there will only be light.”
