There is no shortage of books with investment and financial advice! One such book is called, “The Simple Path to Wealth: Your road map to financial independence and a rich, free life” by JL Collins. While there may be some good ideas in this book, as followers of Jesus we know that God’s word is the best manual when it comes to finances. God cares about how we use what has been given to us! In the Parable of the Talents (Mt. 25), Jesus clearly teaches that we should invest our financial resources into Kingdom work. God sees this kind of investment as good and faithful stewardship!

SIM Australia’s Finance Team is responsible for the stewardship of the financial resources that have been entrusted to our mission. The team is made up of Malcolm Watts (Finance Director), Monica Leung (Finance Manager), Joanne McLachlan (Finance Officer) and Kavitha Lyman (Finance Officer). Together the team total over 54 years of service with SIM!

Our Finance Team supports all our workers through creating support agreements and ensuring they receive payment! They are also responsible for human resources and stewarding our resources through creating budgets and managing investments. At times, the Finance Team serve other SIM offices with their expertise. For example, earlier this year Mal and Jo went to Chiang Mai to audit SIM Thailand and the Continental and South East Asian office and help them meet compliance.

“I love talking about finance with our missionaries – where they’re at, what they need and how we can help them. During the audit in Thailand, I also enjoyed seeing Members in their ministry contexts because we mostly interact remotely. We uphold our missionaries in prayer, but it was wonderful to see them in action!” said Jo.

The Finance Team would appreciate your prayers as they implement some changes in new systems. A new pay roll has been implemented and the team are currently transitioning to new accounting software. These changes are necessary in order to ensure that SIM Australia meets government requirements and continues to grow sustainably.

PLEASE PRAY:
• Give thanks for the dedication and faithful service of SIM’s Finance Team!
• Pray that we would depend on Him to provide what is needed for our ministry to continue making Christ known where He is least known.
• Pray for the Finance Team as they manage the new pay roll system and implement new accounting software.
