Across is focused on supporting Christian diaspora and cross-cultural workers to reach out to different least reached ethnic communities living in Australia.
The strategy of Across is to enable workers who share backgrounds similar to the communities the church is trying to reach, so that language and cultural barriers can be easily overcome. Through Across, SIM supports and partners with local churches as they implement ministries to reach out cross-culturally in their communities. This helps Christians engage with migrants in various settings, including universities, counselling and sports. Find out more: www.sim.org.au/across

Foundations for Farming

Foundations for Farming is an initiative aimed at bringing transformation to individuals, communities and nations through faithful and productive use of land. God has revealed a very simple conservation farming method with an implementation management teaching, which when applied help people to apply the Gospel to their lives. The project desires that the life lesson of farming will help the vast masses of Africa and the developing world, who are dependent on the land, to faithfully use what they have been given to turn a profit and come out of poverty. More importantly however, the project hopes for the transformation of their spiritual lives and that they see Jesus is the foundation we build our lives on and He reveals His ways in all aspects of our lives.

We believe that education is a significant factor in helping to plant churches in the region in which SIM currently works
by providing young people who can read, understand and teach the Scriptures.

"Providing access to education for children who would not otherwise be able to access it — along with the nurturing and Christian discipleship that the project aims to give —
shows God’s love in action. Improved literacy gives access to Bible reading and improved employment prospects. Some of the graduates of this project are being used by the Lord in
local churches, and showing promise as godly leaders". SIM Asia Director

SIM's international Sports Friends ministry trains and equips churches in Africa, Asia and South America to make disciples of youth, their families, and their communities through the powerful platform of sports.

Sports Friends mobilises coaches to provide sport coaching and mentoring for young people in all aspects of life, building relationships, sharing the Gospel and connecting families with the local church.

Through Sports Friends ministry: new churches are planted, youth and their families come to faith in Christ; young Christians are discipled; sustainable ministries are managed by local churches; sports ministry leadership capacity is developed among the national churches.

This project provides a safe and healing Christian home for young women who have experienced sex trafficking, rape, forced labour, domestic violence, and other forms of gender-based exploitation. It’s inspired by Isaiah 61:3, “To all who mourn in Israel, He will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair.”

This is the sister-project of our Redlight-Greenlight project in Girls off the Streets Fund – some of the girls from the aftercare home are transferred to Beauty for Ashes home after they turn 18.

This project runs simple, one-room primary schools in impoverished communities in South Asia. These primary schools are free and cater to children from K-3 who are not registered in other education programs and who would otherwise not receive any education.

At present SIM is running two schools with sessions each catering for the needs of over 100 children. The schools feature drawing, crafts, singing and drama in order to make school fun and develop a love for learning. Children who stay in the program will receive help to transition into the existing formal education system.
