Wanted: Teachers

If you’re a qualified primary teacher, high school teacher or principal with a heart for Jesus, you can serve God in mission through one of SIM’s partner schools for missionary children, or an education project that offers children opportunities for a better life. Check out teaching opportunities.

Teaching at an international school will be a great experience. Not only will you be teaching children of missionaries and expatriates, you will also teach children of diplomats, business professionals and nationals. You have the opportunity to help them know Jesus and grow in their faith.

We have opportunities to teach at Christian schools in Asia, Africa and South America. Your teaching skills can also open doors in many other countries closed to traditional missionaries. There is an urgent need for teachers in SIM schools!

Has God given you a gift in evangelism? Do you want to use this gift in a cross-cultural context? Then we have the perfect opportunity for you.

There are still millions who don’t know who Jesus is or what He has done for them. SIM has many opportunities for you to work among unreached people groups, whether in an urban or a rural setting.

You could live and work in a team to introduce Jesus to unreached people groups in such countries as Continental Asia, Benin, Burkina Faso, Niger, South Asia and the Middle East.

You can use a variety of skills to live among the people, learn their language and form relationships in order to communicate Christ. As well as evangelism and discipleship, there are endless possibilities to use creative arts, English teaching, literacy, business ministries or children’s ministries which will enable you to build relationships to make disciples and train leaders.

Let’s go fishing together and make disciples of Jesus Christ.

Wanted: Engineers

Your expertise and experience in engineering, project management and strategic planning can open doors for you to serve God through aid and development projects with SIM.

Here are a couple examples of how God is using Aussie engineers in mission right now:
Sil worked as an engineer with the local water authority in Canberra. “I was never driven in terms of chasing a successful career or a secure income. I just knew there was more to life than that,” said Sil. She is now using her project management experience to serve God in Benin with SIM.

In Kenya, Andy has been partnering with Kijabe Hospital as a civil engineering consultant to help them upgrade their water system and sanitation facilities to meet critical shortages.

Youth + Sports = Mission

Do you have a heart for evangelising and mentoring youth? Are you passionate about sports, or have experience in coaching, counselling, leadership or communications? Do you want to help churches set up effective programs to witness to their local community?

If you answer ‘yes’ to one or more of these questions, talk to us about exploring an opportunity to serve God through SIM’s Sports Friends ministry.

Sports Friends aims to equip churches to make disciples of youth, their families and their communities through strategic sports ministry. We have opportunities to engage with youth through Sports Friends in Thailand, South Asia, Niger, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Nigeria and more.

“What we most urgently need are Christians gifted in pastoral care. We need biblically-grounded missionaries to walk alongside the national staff and volunteers - training, mentoring and discipling them,” said Andrew and Bec, who serve with Sports Friends Thailand.

“We need more leaders who understand what discipleship looks like, and who are brave and creative in building relationships with young people to lead and mentor them in the faith.”

Does that sound like you? We’d love to chat with you!

God Doesn’t Waste Any Skills

You might be surprised how God can use you to be His witness in cross cultural mission.

Sil competed in the Sydney 2000 Olympics, played professionally for a season in Holland and travelled to over 30 countries playing volleyball. She’s now serving with SIM in Benin.

“Sport was a huge part of my life growing up. Rarely would a week pass by when I wasn’t wielding a racket, catching a ball or running around an oval. Little did I imagine that this beginning would develop into a seven year career with the Australian women’s volleyball team.”

Through sports, Sil has been able to connect with many young Beninese - whether it’s just playing volleyball with her neighbours or coaching at a local school.

“One of the things I learnt in Benin is that God doesn’t waste any skills. Playing volleyball isn’t my primary ministry in Benin, but God has taken those skills and given me an opportunity to use them to encourage others and build relationships.”
