SIM's response to the Ecuador earthquake

Thursday, 28 April 2016 SIM

SIM Ecuador is leading a response team to provide housing and other aid for those affected by the devastating April 16 earthquake. All six coastal provinces of Guayas, Manabi, Santo Domingo, Los Rios, Esmeraldas and Galapagos have declared a state of emergency.  The 7.8 earthquake resulted in over 650 dead and more than 10,000 injured. Infrastructure, businesses and homes have been levelled in this area, leaving countless people homeless. The team will coordinate home repairs and the construction of new homes for some of those impacted. SIM is working to insure those in need are identified and assisted regardless of gender, race or religion, and is committing financial resources and personnel on the ground to aid in the efforts of rebuilding or repairing homes in the affected areas.
